Flutter is Google’s framework for building mobile apps. From a single codebase we deliver apps for both iOS and Android — without compromising on speed or user experience. For most business apps that is the sensible choice: you don’t pay twice for the same functionality.

Why Flutter?

  • One codebase, two platforms — iOS and Android are developed together and automatically stay identical in functionality. That roughly halves development costs, and the saving returns with every change afterwards.
  • Native performance — Flutter compiles to machine code, so apps feel like fully native applications. For business apps there is no noticeable difference in practice.
  • Fast iteration — changes are visible instantly during development, allowing us to respond quickly to feedback from your organisation.
  • A mature ecosystem — Flutter is used worldwide by companies such as Google, BMW and Toyota. Camera, GPS, offline storage, push notifications and biometric login are all well supported.

When should you choose Flutter — and when native?

Flutter is the logical choice as soon as your app has to run on both platforms and the functionality mainly consists of screens, forms, data and integrations — which is nearly always the case for business apps.

Building separately in Swift and Kotlin is defensible for very platform-specific functionality (widgets, watch apps, deep integration with system features) or extreme performance requirements such as 3D graphics or real-time image processing. What we use Flutter for

We build mobile apps for field service — capturing work orders, photos and signatures on site, even without an internet connection — and for on-site registration, such as inspections and checks without paperwork afterwards. We also develop apps that give staff or customers mobile access to business data: stock, planning or order status.

For Avondwinkel Nijmegen we developed a Flutter app connected through a custom .NET API to a SQL Server database.

How Flutter works with the rest of the stack

An app is only as good as the data behind it. Our Flutter apps talk to a .NET backend that uses the same business logic and database as your web application. One source of truth: what an employee enters in the app appears in the web portal immediately.

We take care of the complete journey: design, build, connection to your backend and publication in the App Store and Google Play. We stay involved afterwards too, because iOS and Android ship new versions every year that your app needs to keep up with.
